Dual-Form Loft lounge
Wood Source: A solid, red oak conference table father and grandfather made in 2021 was returned for “recycling.” This was one of the projects we made from that wood.
Process: Three days, base frame construction, adjusting, construction of headboard and arm, and finishing. Used some hand tools we don’t usually pull out, as evidenced by our ‘high tech’ friction reduction craving process. Was most impressed we got it all to ‘fit’ in my tiny car with no obstruction to my driving vision. When I got home I then hoisted it up myself to my meditation loft. The gym membership and college physics classes finally paid off!
Materials: Red oak base frame finished in furniture wax, with metal bronze pulls. Red oak and plywood headboard and arm, finished with wood stain and clear coat, with black felt.
Really enjoyed making this one with my usual crew. Proud to see the works of three generations of woodworkers in every detail from book nooks to functional pull out mechanisms; this was a special one.
