In-between/Program
Individual Project | Spring 2018 | Design II
This project explores the space of the in-between and potential for programming. In this design, the in-between provides spaces of separation and closeness, public and privacy, and interaction or distance.
For this composition, programmatic blocks were arranged and supported by a framing system. Through the arrangement of the spaces, the arrangement of the space to the site, and by the relation of the space to a thick or thin “wall” (or in-between space) different characteristics are captured. For example, general public spaces are put on the upper level such as spaces for hygiene and gathering. The private spaces are placed on the first level and other spaces such as spaces for cooking are placed below the public spaces.
With these techniques this project tries to explore relationships of distinguishing programs and their association to the in-between.
